Mitti Ka Ghar

‘Mitti Ka Ghar’ is an ephemeral installation inspired by traditional Kashmiri mud houses that can still be found in parts of India and Pakistan. The artist Mahtab Hussain worked with the local communities to construct, furnish and decorate a house within the gallery and to explore ideas of home.

A very special evening was held in the gallery with critically acclaimed author Nikesh Shukla and exhibiting artist Mahtab Hussain. Shukla read aloud his short story Didi’s, taken from A Short Affair, an anthology of original short fiction commissioned and produced by Pin Drop Studio. The reading took place in Mahtab Hussain’s exhibition ‘Mitti Ka Ghar’ and followed a Q & A with author and artist and Pin Drop Studio founder Simon Oldfield.
